Town of Arena – Regular Meeting

April 11, 2005

 

PRESENT:  Bob Murphy, Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey, Laurie Ziebarth, Minnie Gauger, Louis Carpenter, Dick Lockman, Dave Meudt, Steve Pappas, Steve Sawle, Jay Gust, Dan Neumaier, Ellen Hohenstein, 30 township residents

 

The meeting was called to order.  Lucey moved to approve the minutes of the March 14 and March 29, 2005, Gauger seconded, motion passed.  Oaths of office for  2005-2006 were taken.  Mail was read.  Lucey moved to adopt Resolution Number 05-01, adopting the comprehensive revision of the Iowa County Zoning Ordinance enacted by the Iowa County Board of Supervisors at its March 15, 2005 meeting, Gauger seconded, motion passed. 

 

Steve Sawle addressed the group regarding the benefits of the Sawle planned unit development proposal.  Public comments were taken on planned unit development.    Lucey moved to adopt Ordinance 05-02 adopting the Comprehensive Plan for the Town of Arena dated March 30, 2005, Gauger seconded, motion carried.  Steve Pappas addressed the group regarding his plans for selling beer at his business on the corner of STH 14 and CTH H.  Gust and other neighbors spoke against Terry Askevold’s proposal for a conditional use for mobile food/beverage sales and canoe rental due to concerns about public safety, traffic, noise and commercializing the river area.

 

Neumaier working with Russ Wilkinson expressed the need to have a fence viewing with the adjoining landowner due to his non-cooperation with constructing a fence between their properties.  Fence viewing will be held Wednesday, April 13 at 6pm.  Murphy will contact Larry Anding about the fence needed along the Gauger property and give him a completion date. 

 

Lucey moved to approve a driveway permit for Donald Doescher off CTH K contingent upon the driveway meeting Iowa County approval, Gauger seconded, motion passed.  Gauger moved to grant Curt Greenheck at CJs Trash and Treasure, seller Ellen Hohenstein, a temporary conditional use for fireworks from June 1 through July 15, Lucey seconded, motion carried.

 

Bids were received for gravel from Bindls, Rule Construction and Watsons; Gauger moved to purchase gravel from Bindls or Watsons, Lucey seconded, motion passed.  Seal coat bids were received from Amons and Scotts.  A decision on seal coat bids will be made after Iowa County is contacted.  One bid was received for the old truck from Gauger Salvage and Sanitation.  Lucey moved to accept the bid from Gauger Salvage and Sanitation, Murphy seconded, motion carried with Gauger abstaining.

 

Gauger moved to approve payment of the bills presented, Lucey seconded, motion carried.   Lucey moved to adjourn, Gauger seconded, motion passed.
