Town of Arena – Regular Meeting

May 9, 2005

PRESENT: Bob Murphy, Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey, Laurie Ziebarth, Minnie Gauger, Louis Carpenter, Dick Lockman, Dave Meudt, Steve Pappas, Terry Askevold, Mark Jankowski, Bill Buckeridge, about 30 township citizens

The meeting was called to order. Lucey moved to approve the minutes of the April 11, 2005, Gauger seconded, motion passed. Gauger moved to approve the bills presented, Lucey seconded, motion carried. Mail was read.

Lucey moved to approve a Class B beer only liquor licenses for Steve Pappas, Pappas Trading Post for July 1, 2005-June 30, 2006, Gauger seconded, motion passed. Public comments were received regarding the rezoning request and Class B beer only liquor license application for Terry Askevold. Lucey moved to deny the Class B beer only license application for Terry Askevold and the rezoning request on a one acre parcel to B2 with a conditional use for mobile food/beverage sales and canoe rental, Murphy seconded, motion passed with Murphy and Lucey voting for the motion and Gauger voting against the motion.

Gauger moved to approve a driveway permit for Fred Hankel, Jr, Lucey seconded, motion passed. Lucey moved to approve a driveway permit Logan Rue, Gauger seconded, motion carried. Gauger moved to approve a building and driveway permit for Joe Hodgson, Lucey seconded, motion passed. Lucey moved to approve a driveway permit for Derek Schmitz, Gauger seconded, motion carried. Gauger moved to approve a driveway permit for Jeremie Cooper and to extend his building permit until November 1, 2005, Lucey seconded, motion passed.

Mark Jankowski, a representative from General Engineering Company presented a proposal to be the building inspector for the Town of Arena. Bill Buckeridge presented the reconfiguration of the parcel he owns off Hwy 14. Gauger moved to approve a land division for Bill Buckeridge on a 5 acre parcel, creating a 2 acre site with the house and conditional uses and a 3 acre site with no conditional uses, Lucey seconded, motion passed. Discussion was held with the patrolmen regarding road work to be done this year.

The Town Board will recommend to the Plan Commission that they move on the Steve Sawle rezoning request at the next meeting, June 6. Gauger moved to appoint Rod Anding to the Plan Commission, Lucey seconded, motion passed. Gauger moved to approve payment of the Pailing fencing bill if payment is not received by the property owner within 10 days of being billed, Lucey seconded, motion carried. A fence viewing will be held at the Lucey property on Saturday, May 14. Gauger moved to adjourn, Lucey seconded, motion passed.
