Town of Arena – Regular Meeting

March 13, 2006

PRESENT: Bob Murphy, Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey, Laurie Ziebarth, Minnie Gauger, Louis Carpenter, Dick Lockman, Dave Meudt, Terry & Connie Denruiter, Ingmar Nelson

The meeting was called to order. Gauger moved to approve the minutes of the February 13, 2006 meeting, Lucey seconded, motion passed. Lucey moved to pay the bills presented, Gauger seconded, motion carried.

Four bids were received for a township truck (Intl Truck Bid - 81,667; Sterling - 60,454 (2 wheel drive); Mac - 115,079; Peterbilt - 116,500). The patrolmen will review the bids and truck reps will be contacted for more information and possibly to meet.

Items recommended from the Plan Commission were discussed. Lucey moved to approve rezoning on 3 parcels off Sweeney Road for Vern Halverson from A1 to AR1, Gauger seconded, motion passed. Gauger moved to postpone action on the Buckeridge request until it is known which conditional uses are wanted on each parcel, Lucey seconded, motion carried. Gauger moved to adopt a resolution to hold a public hearing on Monday, May 8, 2006 at 6:45pm discontinue a portion of Foster Road located in the SE ¼ - NE ¼ of Section 12, Town 7 North, Range 5 East, Lucey seconded, motion passed.

Mail was read. The agenda for the annual meeting was reviewed. Clean sweep will either be held May 20 or April 29. Murphy reported that the heating system in the shop needs to be replaced. Bids will be requested from area businesses for the work. Lucey moved to send a letter to Petersons warning them of the consequences of mud and manure on the township road, Gauger seconded, motion passed.

It was noted that Plan Commission members for upcoming years will be appointed at the April meeting. Discussion on changes to the Plan Commission Ordinance will also be presented at that meeting. Known township roads in Helena were reviewed. Gauger moved to adjourn, Lucey seconded, motion passed.
