Town of Arena – Regular Meeting

PRESENT:  Bob Murphy, Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey, Laurie Ziebarth, Minnie Gauger, Louis Carpenter, Dave Meudt, Dick & Mary Lockman, Terry Denruiter, Tom and Carol Foster, Jack Tredinnick, Ingmar Nelson, Robert Wolf, Erin Bowe, Guy McCutchin

 

The meeting was called to order.  Lucey moved to approve the minutes of the April 10, 2006 meeting, Gauger seconded, motion passed.  Gauger moved to pay the bills presented, Lucey seconded, motion carried.

 

Lucey moved to vacate 300 feet of Foster Road, Gauger seconded, motion passed.  The Fosters signed a permanent limited easement for the township to be used as a turnaround on their property.  Gauger moved to pay Tim Meudt $50 for helping with clean sweep, Lucey seconded, motion carried.  Lucey moved to approve a building permit for Logan Rue/Kerin Zimpel off Roberts Road, Gauger seconded, motion passed.  Gauger moved to approve rezoning on 6.61 acres from A1 to AR1 for Vern Halverson, along with a driveway permit, Lucey seconded, motion carried.  Jack Tredinnick explained the current plan for a joint driveway for a portion of the driveways to the two building sites he has off Blue Ridge Road.  Gauger moved to approve a driveway permit for Robert Wolf off Blue Ridge Road, Lucey seconded, motion passed.

 

Gauger moved to sign contracts for Watson and Bindl for gravel, Lucey seconded, motion carried.  Lucey moved to hire Scott Construction for seal coating projects, Gauger seconded, motion passed.  Gauger moved to accept the bid from Scott Construction for paving (hot mix) 3 parking spots in front of the town hall, noting the gravel base needed is in question, Lucey seconded, motion carried.  Road work to be done this year was discussed.  Bridge inspections have been completed by Westbrook Associates.

 

Gauger moved to send LeRoy Ziebarth a letter regarding completing the fence between the Ziebarth/Lucey property by September 1, 2006, Murphy seconded, motion passed with Lucey abstaining.  The Board talked with Guy McCutchin regarding his rezoning request.  It was found the property is currently zoned A1.  If a survey is needed for refinancing, the minimum parcel size is 5 acres.  Gauger recommend the township stay with the current residential density standard of 1 per 30 given the spring survey results and recommendation from the Plan Commission, Lucey seconded, motion passed.  Gauger moved to adjourn, Lucey seconded, motion passed.
