ARENA PLAN COMMISSION

June 5, 2006

 

PRESENT:  Rod Anding, Mark Hottmann, John Wright, Wayne Schutte, Terry Denruiter, Cheryl Schmidt, Bob Murphy, Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey

OTHERS:  Laurie Ziebarth, Dan Lucey, Ingmar Nelson, Sue Mellum, Tim Draxler, Dan Jackson, Guy McCutcheon, Nate & Candy Parrell, Larry Price, Dan Hartung, 8 others

 

The meeting was called to order.   Anding moved to approve the minutes of the May 1, 2006 meeting, Schutte seconded, motion passed. 

 

1.  Dan Lucey requested a zoning change for Inez Learn to rezone 18 acres from A1 and B1 to AR1 to construct a garage.  Schutte moved to approve the rezoning change, Denruiter seconded, motion carried.

 

2.  Ingmar Nelson requested an extension on his driveway and building permit.  Schutte moved to extend the Nelson driveway and building permit for 6 months, Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

 

3.  Sue Mellum presented an application for a building permit off Blynn Road.  Anding moved to approve the building permit, Schmidt seconded, motion carried.

 

4.  Tim Draxler would like conditional approval that there is a building site on the parcel he is considering purchasing from Jack Tredinnick.  Anding moved to grant a driveway permit for Tim Draxler contingent upon Draxler owning the property, Schutte seconded, motion passed.

 

5.  Dan Jackson lost his house off Blue Ridge due to a fire and would like to rebuild but needs to know if the driveway needs to be brought up to town standards.  The commission felt the driveway had been established and would not need to be brought up to the current township standards.  Anding moved to grant a building permit with a fee of $500 due to the fire hardship, Denruiter seconded, motion carried.

 

6.  Guy McCutcheon would like to rezone 5.01 acres from A1 & B3 to AR1 for the purpose of refinancing.  All B3 acreage on the property is within the 5.01 acres.  Hottmann moved to approve the rezoning request from A1 & B3 to AR1, Schutte seconded, motion passed.

 

7.  Nate and Candy Parrell would now like to rezone 40.5 acres to B3 off Helena Road and go with the original motion approved in April 2006, withdrawing the request for C1 zoning. 

 

8.  Larry Price and Dan Hartung presented a proposal to rezone 48.1149 from A1 to B4 for the manufacture of ethanol (40 million gallons a year) and related by-products along with additional information supporting the proposal.  Many questions were raised regarding the project.  Visits to existing ethanol plants will be set up for the group and any interested parties.

 

            The next meeting will be held Monday, July 3, 2006 at 7:00pm at the Town Hall.  Schutte moved to adjourn, Hottmann seconded, motion passed.
