The
meeting was called to order. Lucey moved to approve the minutes of the July 10, 2006
meeting, Gauger seconded, motion passed. Gauger moved to approve the minutes of the August 3, 2006 special
meeting, Lucey seconded, motion carried. Gauger moved to pay
the bills presented, Lucey seconded, motion carried.
Lucey
moved to approve the driveway permit for David Heinz on
A
proposal was discussed for paving Hayward Crossing and increasing the width of
the road by either pavement or gravel. Hartungs will reimburse the township for paving the road from
Hwy 14 to the Hartung driveway. Hartungs are talking
to the DOT regarding extending the passing lane on Hwy 14 so that it continues
beyond Hayward Crossing. Lucey moved to approve billing Hartungs
$100 for the use of the VFW Hall for the special meeting, plus the meeting
charge cost of the Town Board and Plan Commission members, Gauger
seconded, motion carried.
The
Westbrook Associates proposal for the Reimann Road
Culvert project was presented. Gauger moved to approve the contract with Westbrook
Associates for the engineering services for the
Ingmar
Nelson expressed concerns about the amount of natural gas the proposed Hartung ethanol plant may use and questioned how the plant
preserves the rural atmosphere of the township.
Stuart Holmes commented on the traffic to and from the proposed ethanol
plant, making Hayward Crossing unusable for the general public and spoke on the
amount of carbon dioxide output into the atmosphere.
Road
work was discussed with the patrolmen. Town
and Country will be called to get a larger dumpster. Mail was read. A resignation was received from the Town
Clerk effective November 13, 2006. A
brief discussion was held regarding the village and township loans for the fire
station. The township will wait to hear
from the village with more information. The
county board is looking for a replacement for Steve Foye. Ron Berg has expressed interest in the
position and could be appointed until the term expires. It was noted that the village may be annexing
land south of Hwy 14 from the township.
