Town of Arena – Regular Meeting

October 9, 2006

PRESENT: Bob Murphy, Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey, Laurie Ziebarth, Minnie Gauger, Louis Carpenter, Dick & Mary Lockman, Dave Meudt, Ingmar Nelson, KayDee Maxwell, Guy & Lydia Spurley, Tim Reimann

The meeting was called to order. Gauger moved to approve the minutes of the September 11, 2006 meeting, Lucey seconded, motion passed. Lucey moved to pay the bills presented, Gauger seconded, motion carried. Mail was read.

Gauger moved to approve a recreational cabin permit for Gunderson/Wahl on a parcel off Helena Road, Murphy seconded, motion passed. Lucey moved to approve the annexation of the Artz property into the Village of Arena, Gauger seconded, motion carried. Gauger moved to approve the project agreement between the State of Wisconsin and the Town of Arena for construction of the River Road Bridge in 2008 for a total cost of $410,000 of which $41,000 is estimated to be the township cost, Lucey seconded, motion passed.

Murphy reported that the Village of Arena has not contacted the township regarding a fire protection agreement. Gauger moved to approve the existing fire protection agreement with the noted changes for the next five years, Lucey seconded, motion carried. Guy & Lydia Spurley inquired as to what was needed to replace the trailer home they own that burned in Helena. They were asked to come to the Plan Commission meeting in November.

Road work completed and ordering salt was discussed with the patrolmen. The board discussed the plans for the ditch on Reimann Road with Tim Reimann. The board will meet with Reimann on his property sometime next week. Murphy will be meeting with the DOT regarding the Highway 14 and Hayward Crossing needs due to the proposed Hartung ethanol plant.

The budget was worked on. Lucey moved to adjourn, Gauger seconded, motion passed.
