Town of Arena – Regular Meeting - Unofficial Minutes

PRESENT:  Bob Murphy, Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey, KayDee Maxwell, Minnie Gauger, Louis Carpenter, Dick Lockman, Mary Lockman, David Meudt, Brenda Meudt, Terry Denruiter

 

The meeting was called to order.  Gauger moved to approve the minutes of the December 11, 2006 meeting, Lucey seconded, motion passed.  Lucey moved to pay the bills presented, Gauger seconded, motion carried.

 

1. David Lucey motioned to approve operator's licenses for Phillip Wirts and Patti Kinnard pending that Kinnard provides documentation of schooling. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

 

2. A voting committee must be nominated before selecting an engineering firm for the River Road Bridge project. Gauger nominated Murphy as chairperson, Lucey seconded. Two voting members also need to be nominated. Gauger nominated Lucey and Lucey nominated Gauger as voting members. The three engineering firms the town is considering are MSA of 123 S. Boulavard, Baraboo; Westbrook of 612 East Hoxie Street, Spring Green; or Mead & Hunt of 6501 Watts Road Madison. Based on past experience Lucey motioned to rank Westbrook as #1, Mead & Hunt as #2 and MSA as #3, Gauger seconded.

 

3. Reimann Road project was discussed.

 

4. Murphy talked to Dan Hartung and they are looking at construction the ethanol plant starting in June 2007. It will be in operation by Aug. or Sept. of 2008. Hartungs have not really looked for investors yet. They have $8 or $9 million lined up without looking too hard. The town shouldn't have to do any work on Helena Road until 2008 Murphy said.

 

5. Murphy would like to move the next Town Board meeting to the third Monday in February.

 

6. Gauger motioned to move to close session. Lucey seconded, motion passed with the supervisors and chairman present. Lucey moved to return to open session, Gauger seconded, motion passed.  Gauger motioned to adjust insurance payments for the patrolmen for 2007. The town will begin paying 30% of the health insurance premium for Richard Lockman on a monthly basis.  The premium is based on Physicians Plus Meriter & UW Ins. which is $961.80. The town will reimburse Meudt for his COBRA premium which is $547.83 per month. Lucey seconded, motion passed. Lucey motioned to increase Meudt's 2007 pay by a $1.25 and Lockman's by $0.50. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

7. Gauger moved to adjourn, Lucey seconded, motion passed.
