Town of Arena – Regular Meeting

PRESENT:  Bob Murphy, Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey, KayDee Maxwell, Minnie Gauger, Louis Carpenter, Dick Lockman, Mary Lockman, David Meudt, Brenda Meudt, Terry Denruiter, Ingmar Nelson, 

 

The meeting was called to order.  Gauger moved to approve the minutes of the February 5, 2007 meeting, Lucey seconded, motion passed.  Lucey moved to pay the bills presented, Gauger seconded, motion carried.

 

Bob Murphy opened the bids from the Reimann Road bridge project. There are 4 bids: Parisi Construction $85, 403.41; Meisie Construction $66,894.00; Concrete Structures $118,530.00.

 

River Road Bridge and Approaches engineering contract was discussed. The costs are divided up as follows: 80% federal funding, 10% county, and 10% township cost. Murphy applied to the DNR for 10% funding as well. Lucey moved to accept the engineering contract, Gauger seconded, motion carried.

 

The Hayward Crossing agreement with United Cooperative was reviewed. Lucey motioned to make an agreement between the Town and River Valley Energy for Hayward Crossing be approved. Gauger seconded, motion carried.

 

May 12, 2007 was chosen for the 2007 Clean Sweep Day.

 

Damage to residence mail boxes during plowing was discussed. The board suggested not paying for mail boxes that were damaged by the snow unless the snow plow directly hits the mail box.

 

Lucey motioned to rezone the 5 acres on Sweeny Road from A-1 to AR-1 for Roger Emerson. Gauger Seconded.

 

Ingmar Nelson voiced his concerns about the use of Helena Road as a land strip. There are safety and noise concerns. Bill Gauger will talk with Alsume Farms.

 

The board reviewed the proposed CSM/Subdivision Notice for Dennis & Judy Halverson and David & Gloria Sears. They had no objections.

 

Fence issues between Falmouth Stables and Gayl Artz were discussed. Falmouth Stables would have 1000 feet to fence and Gayl would have about 400 or 1000 feet. Both parties have to agree with the same fence that will be established between the common ownership lands.

 

The town board discussed raising Louis Carpenter's pay for 2007.

 

Gauger moved to adjourn, Lucey seconded, motion passed.
