ARENA PLAN COMMISSION

PRESENT:  John Wright, Wayne Schutte, Terry Denruiter, Dave Lucey, KayDee Maxwell, Cheryl Schmidt, Mark Hottmann, Rod Anding, Bill Gauger,

OTHERS:  Ingmar Nelson, Minnie Gauger, John Halverson, Rich Schoenberg, Kay (Attorney representing the Schoenberg's), Steve Diehl, Steve Pappas

 

The meeting was called to order.  Mark Hottman moved to approve the minutes of the April 2, 2007 meeting, Anding seconded, motion passed.

 

John Halverson representing Don Winch on Blue Ridge Road. Don wants to sell 30 acres to Phil Roberts (Phil will add this to an existing parcel) and Don will retain his remaining 8.73 acres with buildings. The 8.73 acres will need a rezone to AR-1 and a land division. Anding motioned to approve a rezone of 8.73 acres to AR-1 and a land division. Schmidt seconded, motion carried. Don Winch will pay the $500 fee before next meeting.

 

John Halverson representing Rich Schoenberg. Rich wants to create an additional 40 acre parcel and a 15 acre parcel off of Blynn Road. The new driveway would be to the North of the cropland along the woods, a shared driveway. They need a rezone of the 15 acres and a land division of the 15 and 40 acre parcels. Hottmann motioned to approve the 2 land divisions and a rezone of the 15 acres. Schmidt seconded, motion passed. Schoenberg owes $750.00.

 

Steve Deal has a county permit for a new driveway at 5701 HH. Anding moved to approve the driveway permit contingent on a Planning Commission inspection. Hottmann seconded, motion passed. The committee will look at the proposed driveway on Tuesday, April 8 at 5:15pm. Deal paid $500 for the driveway permit.

 

Gauger Properties/Gauger LLC wants to dig a 3 acre pond to sell fill sand to Kreamer Brothers. Gauger needs a conditional use policy that he can store sand on his property, zoned M1, for up to 3 years. If any sand is left on the property after 3 years it will have to be spread on the Gauger property. The pond will range from 5 to 18 feet deep. Kraemer Company will have access through the salvage yard. Schutte motioned to grant the conditional use permit with a sunset date of 36 months from the start date of excavation. Anding seconded, motion carried.

 

Steve Pappas, Pappas Trading Post, wants to remove the two existing signs and hang one new 16 foot wide sign. The new sign would be 4 feet higher than the existing sign is now. He will have to apply for a variance through the county. Anding motioned to approve the new 16 foot wide sign contingent upon approval from the county. Hottmann seconded, motion passed.

 

Anding motioned to have John Wright as the Planning Commission Chair for the 2007-2008 year for the Town of Arena. Schutte seconded, motion passed John Wright nominated Rod Anding for Vice Chair for the 2007-2008 year for the Town of Arena. Schutte seconded, motion passed.

 

The next meeting will be held June 4, 2007 at 7:00pm at the Town Hall.  Anding moved to adjourn, Hottmann seconded, motion passed.
