October 1, 2007

PRESENT:  KayDee Maxwell, Cheryl Schmidt, Bill Gauger, Bob Murphy, Dave Lucey, Terry Denruiter, John Wright, Mark Hottmann

OTHERS:  Ingmar Nelson, Vern & Evy Halverson, Sue Mellum, Don & Betty Johnson, John Rassmussen, Vern Meir,

The meeting was called to order.

Don & Betty Johnson have owned a 0.8 acre lot since 1993 on the Wisconsin River. The property was recorded a parcel in 1993 and not before that. Ted Sawle sold a portion of his land adjoining theirs and had them sign a deed. When the Johnson's went to sell their portion they were told that they don't own the property. They obtained a quick deed to put the property back in their name. The land does have two separate parcel numbers. Murphy motioned that 949.B and 949.C are legally two separate parcels and identified by the Town of Arena as such. Hottmann seconded, motion passed.

John Rassmussen, owner of Spring Valley Inn. The land, 18.75 acres, is zoned commercial. They are thinking about building another building behind the current building some time in the future. They want to build a two story building and offer time shares for people. They propose to have 20 units in the new building and change the current 35 unit building to only 20 units. This will be open year around. They also want to enlarge the health club and turn it more into a spa. John is going to ask the County what all of the conditional uses for his property are.

Evy Halverson is representing a potential buyer of commercial lot 1 that she owns, zoned B2. The potential buyer has a business in Portland, OR buying and selling old and reconditioned wood. He wants to start a business here if he purchases the property. He would have a private sewer, possibly three buildings and a one-man saw mill. The property would be fenced and all buildings will be locked. He has a website that explains his business www.altruwood.com. Evy assumes he would be open during work day hours. He will have any where from 0-10 semis coming in per week. All orders are by phone, email or appointment. The plan commission wants to know what will happen with the water, what his definition of finishing is and what conditional uses he is asking for. The property will have to be rezoned to B3.  Schmidt motioned to approve the business plan as presented and rezoning the property from B2 to B3. All working areas will have to be indoors and the storage area will have to be fenced. The working hours, hazardous materials disposal and water disposal will have to be reviewed. Murphy seconded, motioned carried. The property will need a driveway permit for lot 1 and lot 2. Hottmann motioned to approve the driveway permit from lot 1 to lot 2. Schmidt seconded, motion passed. The rezoning and driveway fees have not been paid.

Joe Long, rezoning and building permit on Hwy K. He owns 48.49 acres. There are no remaining building sites on the property. He wants to split the property and sell the house with about 7.49 acres and keep the remaining 41 acres. The land will have to be rezoned AR1. He will have to get a CSM done first. He will also need an easement through the land. If he was to put a shed on the land he needs to go to the county.

Sue Mellum is asking for a second extension of her building permit. Hottmann motioned to extend her building permit until June 30, 2008. Schmidt seconded, motion passed.

Vern Maier needs a driveway permit. They have an easement now and need to put in the driveway. Schmidt motioned to approve the driveway permit. Murphy seconded, motion passed. They paid the $500 driveway permit.

Wally and Jen Rose want to remove a trailer and put in a double wide at 7406 River Road. The double wide will be 1144 feet wide. Hottmann motioned to allow the Rose's to move in a double wide and remove the trailer. The trailer needs to be out of the township. Schmidt seconded, motion carried. The $100.00 fee was paid.

Schmidt motioned to adjourn. Hottmann seconded, motion carried.
