Town of Arena – Regular Meeting

December 10, 2007

PRESENT: Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey, Terry Denruiter, KayDee Maxwell, Minnie Gauger, Louis Carpenter, Dick Lockman, David Meudt

The meeting was called to order. Gauger moved to approve the minutes of the November 12, 2007 meeting. Denruiter seconded, motion passed. Denruiter moved to approve the minutes of the November 19, 2007 meeting. Gauger seconded, motion passed. Denruiter moved to pay the bills presented. Gauger seconded, motion carried.

Tom Porter said the county will not do anything with his two acres until Wally Rose brings more information to the county about his conditional use wishes. However, Wally Rose has withdrawn all of his plans for the parcel. The parcels are currently zoned AR1. Tom Porter would like to add two acres to his property from Wally Rose and possibly add storage sheds in the future. He would plant trees along the property line as a natural border. Denruiter motioned to rezone the 2 acres from AR1 to B4. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

John Rasmussen, Spring Valley Inn - Gauger motioned to grant the conditional uses and combine the three parcels and rezone them to B2 contingent on receiving the fee. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

Lunder Law will be on the January agenda because we have not received the $1000 payment yet.

Halverson's, Hwy 14 conditional use - tabled and will be put on January's agenda because we have not received the $500 driveway fee or the certified survey map yet.

Tracy Halverson - Ordinance for Bit-O-Green Mobile Home Park. The board will talk with the Town's Association to see if they have an ordinance we can use. She showed the town a map of possible future expansion of the park.

Denruiter motioned to nominate the list of election workers for 2008 - 2009. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

Arena Cemetery - Dave plowed the Arena cemetery. The board wants to have the patrolmen plow a way in and a way out and that is it. If there would be a burial then we would have to do something special. Dave Lucey told Frank that we would not be responsible for anything else with the cemetery and that the row of trees needs to be taken down for us to plow. It is the responsibility of the property owner to do the outside maintenance, the road only. Denruiter believes the board should meet with the cemetery committee to discuss the maintenance of the cemetery.

Iowa County Humane Society Agreement for 2008. Denruiter motioned to pay the $400 fee for 2008. Gauger seconded, motioned passed.

Bob Murphy - TRIPP funds. Amacher Road project is about $40,000. $20,000 will come from the State, the County will kick in $10,000 and the township will pay the remaining $10,000. An idea for a future project would be guard rails on Coon Rock Rd.

Gauger motioned to move to closed session. Lucey recited statue 19.85(i)(j). Denruiter seconded, motion passed. Denruiter motioned to move to open session. Gauger seconded, motion passed. Denruiter motioned to raise Richard Lockman's 2008 wage to $18.25 and Dave Meudt's 2008 wage to $17.25 effective January 1, 2008. Gauger seconded, motion passed. Each received a $1.00 raise.

We need to order a fire sign for Scott & Suzanne Schmidt - 8882 Hwy 14, Mazomanie.
