Town of Arena – Regular Meeting -unofficial minutes

April 14, 2008

 

 

PRESENT:  Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey, KayDee Maxwell, Minnie Gauger, Dick Lockman, Mary Lockman, David Meudt, Terry Denruiter, Ingmar Nelson, Jason Schluter, Tracy Halverson, Steve Sawle, Jim Corcoran

 

 

- The meeting was called to order.  Gauger moved to approve the minutes of the March 10, 2008 meeting. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.  Gauger moved to pay the bills presented. Denruiter seconded, motion carried.

 

- Public Comment

 

- A date for Clean Sweep was set for May 10, 2008. Hours will be from 9:00 am till 1:00 pm. Water Heaters will be added to the list of items for a $15.00 fee.

 

- Denruiter motioned to approve Bit-O-Green Community to have the existing stick built home in the park. Gauger seconded, motion passed. The board also added the word park in section VI letter I of the ordinance, "Town of Arena manufactured and mobile home park fee shall be $75.00 annually".

 

- Jason Schluter owns property on Bennett Road. He is in the process of selling the land. There is an existing free road easement of 49.5 feet. Iowa County Ordinance states that an existing easement should be 50 feet. Lucey motioned that the board doesn't have any objections to Iowa County granting Jason Schluter a variance for his property on Bennett Road. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

 

- Jim Corcoran - Fitts Road is steep and a few times during the year you can hardly get in and out. The concern is getting fire trucks in and out. Also, he would like to see improvements made in the road. The board discussed the road conditions with the patrolmen and Corcoran. Corcoran would like to get a few bids to explore the idea of improving the road in the future. Gravel does need to be added to the road this year.

 

- Gauger motioned to accept the bid for ¾ inch gravel and breaker run at $5.38/ton delivered from Bindl Bauer Limestone of Spring Green. Denruiter seconded, motion passed. Seal coat bid from Scott Construction is $10,975.00 per mile for a single seal and $20,100.00 per mile for a double seal. Denruiter motioned that the Town look into spending around $15000.00 for next winter's salt. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

 

- John Halverson, Lake Wisconsi Land Co. Denruiter motioned to approve the 3 land divisions and a rezone for Halverson. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

 

- Land owned by Janeen Ashbacher. Denruiter motioned to approve the rezone for Ashbacher. Gauger seconded, motion approved.

 

- Evy Halverson - Denruiter motioned to approve the rezone and driveway permit for Halverson. Gauger seconded, motion passed. There are no animal units allowed.

 

- Gauger motioned to reappoint both Wayne Schutte and John Wright for the Plan Commission. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

 

- Gauger asked about the Boy Scouts setting up an aluminum kennel for people to drop off pop cans. It is there responsibility to keep it clean.  

 

- May 12 there will be a meeting about the River Road project at 6:30pm with Westbrook.

 

- Dave Lucey will get certified for the Board of Review

 

- Minnie Gauger approached the board about taxes due for Bill Cozine. The board feels Cozine is responsible for the full tax amount.

 

- Gauger motioned to move to closed session to discuss Falmouth Farms tax situation. Lucey seconded, motion approved. Denruiter abstained from voting.

 

- Gauger motioned to move to open session. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

 

- Denruiter motioned to adjourn. Gauger seconded, motion passed.
