ARENA PLAN COMMISSION

April 6, 2009

The meeting was called to order. 

 

Schutte  motioned to approve the minutes from March 2, 2009 meeting. Schmidt seconded, motion passed.

 

- Fred & Julie Marti - building permit for 6002 Hwy HH. They have 96 acres with one house on the land. Zoned Ag now. Needs a land division and rezone to AR1. Will move driveway a bit South from the existing field road. The Plan Commission will meet with them to look at the parcel. 8:30am Wednesday. The discussion is tabled till the commission looks at the parcel.

 

- Harrington Brothers - In Feb. 2001they were planning on selling land, 8.896 acres. This land division was approved by the County. The sale ended up not going through. Now Harrington's would like to try and sell the land and add it to an existing parcel of the potential land owner. This was a done deal and approved in 2001. The parcel will be approximately 22.54 acres with no building site. Bob Murphy motioned to approve the land division of 8.896 acres that was done previously in Feb. 2001.  Schutte seconded, motion passed.

 

- Harrington's would like to build a machine shed. They need a driveway; as long as it is a farm road then no driveway permit is needed. They will have to go to the County for a building permit.

 

- Don Macie & Bonnie Sweeney - 7439 Timberline Road, rezone to have a vacation house that they would rent out for a week at a time. The owners would live in the house 95% of the time. If it gets to a point that they are renting the house out 50% of the time then they will need to rezone as a business. 5.08 acre parcel. They can have a sign as long as it is less then 32 sq. ft. one sided.

 

- Evy Halverson - 1.960 acre parcel that borders the village limits, it is a parcel of record, all field land, Ag nonconforming lot. A potential buyer would like to buy lot 2, 3 and the 1.960 acres. Needs a place to land an ultra light plane 2-3 times per week when the weather is good.  Evy wants to make sure he can do a landing strip if he buys the land. The lot would need to be rezoned to AB1 with a conditional use permit. The plan commission doesn't want to zone it business, but doesn't have a problem with him landing his plane in it. If people have a problem with the noise then the Township would ask him to adjust his flying times. The plan commission thought it okay to issue a conditional use permit, but the County probably won't allow that.

 

- Jeff McVay - If Stafford's house burned in Helena, is it okay to build where the house was? Vacating streets would have to go through court litigation. The County said there are so many documents floating around that they can't make sense of it.

 

- The Town Board needs to appoint a Plan Commission member for a new term. Rod Andings term is up.
