Town of Arena - Town Board Meeting

December 14, 2009

PRESENT: Dave Lucey, Bill Gauger, Terry Denruiter, Minnie Gauger, KayDee Maxwell, Bernard White, Connie McVay, Wayne Schutte, Rod Anding, Gary Heck, Tyler Stevens, David Meudt, Bob Murphy, John Wright, Dick & Mary Lockman, Ingmar Nelson

- Denruiter moved to approve the minutes of the November 9, 2009 meeting. Gauger seconded, motion passed. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

- Gary Heck - Gauger motioned to approve a driveway permit, land division, and rezone. Denruiter seconded, motion passed. We need a CSM. Heck owes $1000.

- Ingmar Nelson - rezone property from A1 to RB1. Lot 4 is 6.6 acres middle is 4.4 acres of mainland? Has an easement up to Helena Road. Doesn't meet the criteria for a multi user road. Green space has been in Ag forever and Denruiter has a problem taking it out of Ag. Ingmar wants to put up recreational cabins on the property. What is the impact or tax base if he rezoned to conservancy. Lucey will check into the conservancy benefits or not for the Town and Ingmar. If you split the island and field there will be 11 acres left. If CR1 has no effect what does the board want to do? The board will not vote on anything till they get a recommendation from the Planning Committee. Gauger motioned to deny the land division due to lack of information. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

- Denruiter motioned to nominate the list of 2010 & 2011 election workers. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

- Dept. of Revenue looking at a proposal for a county wide assessment. Want to eliminate from 400 assessors to about 100. We would be looking at a re-evaluation right away. Those whose are in favor or against staying with the County, 7 are in favor of going with the County. We will send a certified letter rescinding our previous letter.

- The board discussed the 2010 humane society agreement. Gauger motioned to donate $450 to the Iowa County Humane Society. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

- Garbage and Recycling will be closed the day after Christmas.

- Denruiter motioned to approve the bills as presented. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

- Gauger motioned to move to closed session to discuss patrolmen wages. Denruiter seconded, motion passed

- Gauger motioned to move to open session. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.
