Town of Arena

PRESENT:  Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey, Terry Denruiter, KayDee Maxwell, Dick Lockman, Mary Lockman, Ingmar Nelson, David Meudt, Tracy Halverson, Edward Gile,

 

- The meeting was called to order at 7:15 pm.  Roll call was taken, all board members are present. Denruiter moved to approve the minutes of the February 7, 2011 meeting. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

 

- Tracy Halverson wants to fence a little over 80 acres of her property at 7773 Knight Hollow Road to put beef cattle in there. Property neighbors are Giles, Hanbergs, Ellersons, and Shanamins. Giles has questions about practicality of the fence because it washes out. No accessibility. He also has questions about boundaries. The town board does not deal with boundary disputes. What about moving the fence to a more reasonable location? Tracy says it is not a gully there. John Halverson has been staking the property line. The piece that they are concerned about washing out is Tracy's problem anyway. Tracy wants to start fencing within the next month. Giles can use Tracy's side of the property to fence his if he wants. The town board will go look at the property. They have Edward Gile's permission to do so. Tracy has letters from each of the property owners.

 

- Clean Sweep date - Set for either May 14th or May 21st. Gauger motioned to have clean sweep on May 14th with the same fees. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

 

- Questions about the sand pit? Nick Heiser has not applied for any permits nor does he own the land on Helena Rd. What does it do to the water table?

 

- Patrolmen - new axles in the New Holland, spring in Dave's truck. Dick might paint the sides and end gate of his truck this summer. We need at least 175 ton of salt. Single Seal coat roads this year:

            0.5 miles High Point, 1.1 mile west end of Knight Hollow, 0.2 miles Dover

            .9 miles Zwettler this summer, .5 miles Coon Rock, 1 mile Hayward

            0.2 Reimann, Fitts Road gravel. We will seal coat 4.5 miles this year.  

 

- There will be a bunch of bicycle races this year on Zwettler and Pinnacle…

- What about abandoning roads we don't use? Like Anding Road.

 

- Gauger motioned to approve the bills as presented. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

 

- Road liability for the road where the Jackson's live where their house burned down. According to the lawyer's the town would have liability if we let them use the road for a residence. We need to look at the road.

 

- Gauger motioned to adjourn. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.
