Town of Arena

July 11, 2011

PRESENT: Bill Gauger, Dave Lucey, Terry Denruiter, KayDee Maxwell, Dick Lockman, Mary Lockman, Minnie Gauger, Tracy Halverson, David Meudt

The meeting was called to order by David Lucey at 7:00pm. Roll call was taken.

Gauger motioned to approve the minutes from June 7, 2011. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

Culvert replacement - steel or plastic? Farm and Fleet has plastic ones. Bill Gauger will go get them from Farm and Fleet and he will then take the old ones. Wally Rose will charge $50/hour to put them in. Gauger motioned to try the plastic culverts for Coon Rock Road. There are 3 culverts. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

The mowing is completed. We have a complant on about the wild parsnip on a property and they don't want to mow it.

Tracy Halverson - Adding sites to Bit-O-Green. The county did not have any problems with it. She will need a conditional use to up the number so they have a plan. Gauger motioned to grant a conditional use permit to add 5 trailer houses to her mobile home park. If she can prove she does not need a conditional use permit she will get her money refunded. Denruiter seconded, motion passed. The board is questioning whether she needs a conditional use permit at all?

Bill & Minnie Gauger - conditional use permit tabled by Planning & Zoning

Gauger motioned to approve a liquor license renewal for A Better Buzz. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

Denruiter motioned to approve an Operators License renewal for Diane Holzum. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

Dan & Sarah Jackson were the ones that need to clip their field with the wild parsnip. The town doesn't know what authority we have. Noxious weeds can be controlled by the town if need be.

Peterson Estate & David Moore - David is not opposed to putting a fence in. However, he otherwise was going to offer to buy the horses and give the profit to the food pantry. The fence needs to go in if Peterson's want to keep the horses and they are their horses. This needs to get resolved. This has been going on way too long. By the time we have another meeting the fence needs to be in. Lucey said Peterson's half of the fence needs improvement as well.

Gauger motioned to approve the board of review minutes. Denruiter seconded, motion passed.

Denruiter motioned to approve June bills as presented. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

Denruiter motioned to approve the resolution with block numbers in Ward 1 & Ward 2 as described. Gauger seconded, motion passed.

Front tires on the tractor? McFarlanes $920, Don's Tire $575 (not firestone). We have had the current tires about 1 year. Get the cheaper ones if they seem okay.

There will be a bicycle ride in Arena Aug. 4 - Aug. 7, 2011 with approximately 150 riders. We will email them b/c there is safety concerns with the routes they will take during the week due to the heavy use of the roads.
